Social Network

Arrghghgghgh, I thought, "where's people???" and found out everyone is now on face boook!!!

What makes me feel weird is this.

I'm a computer scientist I mean I was studying at Faculty of Computer Science, University of Indonesia. People always think that anyone dealing with computers are geeks or nerds. I don't mind being called that though I'm so far from being nerd/geek but since I guess geek is cool I love that call.

And it turns out that almost all my friends from the college (IT people) are not really active on Friendster or Facebook or blogging, even many of them don't have one. I do have one but I almost never touch them (except this blog). What surprises me is large number of non-IT people are making friends via chatting rooms, friendster, facebook, and other social network in cyber world. While most information and computer technology related expert people keep their social network in the real world! No, we're not like those people portrayed in movies about hackers and with glasses, fat and burgers and stuffs, we're so different!

And that arrises question in my mind, who are the real geeks in here? I mean, wow I've never suspected before that I would meet soooooooooo many people my friends in face book. They're not IT people. They aren't geekies! When I can hardly find any friends of IT guys in friendster of facebook.

Well I guess that's how internet have changed our society. They meet face to face no more.
Sigh, I love old school better.
